American artist Philip Scott Johnson created the project "500 years of female portraits in Western art." This is his vision of works of art, where he actively engaged digital technology.

Short 3-minute videos of the artist contain hundreds of female portraits. It is possible for the artist using the effect of “morphing” - a gradual change of frames, as smoothly as possible flowing from one to the other.

The portrait is a product of the European culture of the New time (1492-1914). Its components - the Age of the Renaissance and the Enlightenment - gave an idea of the value of individuality in a person.

The predominance of the portrait was primarily due to the fact that the main subject of literature and art in the XVIII century, in the age of classicism, was a person who carries mind and spirit.

The women in the portraits of the 18th century are primarily seductive. Their portraits recreate a vivid and vivid picture of the manners, fashion and tastes of the era of female sovereignty. But, having something in common with other works, each portrait remains unique.

In the XIX century, the situation changes. A portrait of this time is a portrait of a person either alone with himself, or, on the contrary, carefully looking at the viewer. But in this and in another case, this is a portrait, devoid of the game, theatrical beginning.
