A group of archaeologists currently working on Mamai Mountain during the last two weeks of the expedition investigated the Scythian burial, artifacts from which, according to scientists, boldly claim the nomination of the most outstanding archaeological find of the season in Ukraine. However, the researchers decided so far to maintain the intrigue, and talk about the find after the excavation.

For two weeks of work, an expedition consisting of 3 professional archaeologists, 7 volunteers, and 25 students explored 13 burials of the late Middle Ages, 3 Scythian cult pits, a Scythian moat and a catacomb.

According to archaeologists, a bulldozer, which was paid by sponsors, was very useful for them in work: one day of work of the equipment is replaced by a couple of weeks of manual work. Members of the expedition say they are ready to work at the same pace until its end in mid-August.

As reported, Mamai Mountain is located in the Great Znamenka of the Kamensko-Dneprovsky district of the region. This is a unique archaeological site for Ukraine, since there are burial complexes on its territory that hide the history of 8 millennia - from the Neolithic to the late Middle Ages.

Unfortunately, the Mamai Mountain is being destroyed by the Kakhovka reservoir. Since 1988, a rescue archaeological expedition has been working there, research has been conducted by the archaeological laboratory of Zaporizhzhya National University.
