Queen Elizabeth II of Britain is fond of philately and often shows guests his collection of stamps. According to estimates, the cost of the entire meeting of the ruler is 125 million dollars. Most of the collection went to the Queen from previous monarchs, but many copies she acquired herself.

One of the most interesting rarities is a stamp from the island of Mauritius in 1847, which is estimated at $ 2.5 million. In 1904, it was purchased at auction by George V, grandfather of Elizabeth II, who gave for the lot 1450 pounds. As for the Queen, among her personal acquisitions, a special place is occupied by a set of stamps 10 Penny Blacks 1840, purchased for 312 thousand pounds.

In 2001, duplicates of the Royal collection were auctioned. Bidding caused an unprecedented stir, and all brands were quickly sold out.
