Nine photos of Kiev, made a hundred years ago

These photographs of Kiev were taken in 1918. German photographers arrived in the capital of Ukraine and took off in a balloon to capture the city from a bird's eye view. Looking closely at each picture, you can learn a lot of familiar places that a hundred years ago looked a little different.
