Montreal is the most populous city in the canadian province of Quebec. The official language is French, which is the native language of most residents. The first people appeared here 4 thousand years ago. Archaeologists have discovered the remains of fortified villages on the site of Montreal. For several years (from 1844 to 1849), the city was the capital of Canada, but lost this status during the protests.

Among the attractions worth noting are such structures and objects as the Bonsecours Market, the Notre-Dame Basilica, and the Lachine Canal. Many of the most beautiful buildings are located in the Old Montreal area. Since 1977, Montreal has hosted the world film Festival, which is recognized as one of the world's most prestigious film forums. La Ronde Park hosts an annual international competition for pyrotechnic teams.

In the photo below, the city appears to us as it was 70 years ago.
