The most beautiful postage stamps of the Aland Islands among those issued in 2019 are recognized as postage stamps with the image of woodpeckers. The set includes four stamps issued on February 1, 2019. They depict the pied woodpecker (Dendrocopos major), the lesser pied woodpecker (Dendrocopos minor), the grey woodpecker (Picus canus), and the black woodpecker (Dryocopus martius). The illustrations were created by the artist Bo Lundwall.
The voting was carried out via e-mail. The set surpassed the other 11 issues, among which the second place was taken by the set "Sailing ships". In third place was a set dedicated to the harvest festival with photos of children, cows and an Apple.
