In 1975, the company American Motors Corporation released a compact car the AMC Pacer. It was called futuristic, bold, universal. There was even an electric version that was designed as a response to the gasoline crisis of the 70s. At first, sales were successful, in the first year they sold more than 145 thousand cars. However, demand began to fall sharply and in 1979 the car was discontinued.
The two-door AMC Pacer received a body with rounded corners. Its length is 4.4 meters, while in width it is not inferior to conventional sedans produced in the United States, and reaches 1.96 meters. The right-hand passenger door is 10 cm longer than the left - this solution made it easier to access the rear seats. At first, engineers planned to equip the car with rotary-piston engines, but in the end decided to stop at 6-cylinder engines with a volume of 3.8 and 4.2 liters.
