Budapest is the capital and most populous city of Hungary. Budapest's strengths are in the financial, commercial, technological and educational fields. Therefore, the city has become one of the fastest growing European centers in our days. The Central part, located near the river Danube, is recognized as a world heritage site, included in the UNESCO list. Among the architectural monuments, a special place is occupied by the building of the Hungarian Parliament, Budai fortress (Budai Vár), Matyagsa Church (Mátyás-templom), Gresham Palace (Gresham-palota). The photos of everyday life in Budapest posted in this publication were taken in the 80's By Sandor Somkuti.
