At the Dominic Winters Auctioneers auction in the British city of Cirencester on June 24, a letter from the fairy-tale character Winnie-the-Pooh to the boy Buffkins will be put up for sale. In fact, the text was written by illustrator Ernest Howard Shepard, decorating it with images of a crying bear and Piglet. Buffkins is the nickname of Harry Stopes row, the son of the British writer Mary Stopes.

The email was sent to the recipient 85 years ago. This is a response to an invitation to the boy's birthday party. Since the character himself was understandably unable to attend the celebration, Shepard, an Illustrator of Alan Milne's works, often wrote similar messages of apology. The 1935 letter offered at auction contains the following misspelled text: "We are very sorry that we cannot attend your party on March 30, but we will be absent. Thank you very much for the invitation." It is expected that a handwritten lot with a drawing will bring 4-6 thousand pounds.
