During the sale of works by Surrealists and modernists at Sotheby's, a painting by the Spanish artist Remedios Varo "Harmony (Alleged self-portrait)"was purchased. It was planned to get 2-3 million dollars for it, but the final price surprised everyone, reaching 6.1 million dollars. Thus, this painting is the most expensive among all the artist's works.

"Harmony (Supposed self-portrait)" was written in 1956. This is a typical example of the author's complex visual language – the animal, plant, human and mechanical worlds interact in the artist's work. Great attention is paid to details: each object is in its place and carries a certain value. Remedios varo often depicted a solitary figure in a confined space, focused on intellectual or creative work.

In addition to " Harmony..." at Sotheby's on the same day bought another picture Remedios varo – "Microcosm" (1959). Its final price was $ 1.8 million, and now this work is also among the three most expensive works of the Spanish artist.
