On October 1, 25-kopeck coins and banknotes printed before 2003 were withdrawn from circulation in Ukraine. In connection with this obsolete material will be disposed of, and it will happen in the following way.

The destruction of the coins is based on their accumulation in the national Bank. First, images will be removed from the surface using special equipment. The metal will then be put up for auction, where it will be sold to businesses that will send the scrap to be melted down. Previously, 1-, 2-, 5-kopeck coins that were out of circulation were disposed of in this way.

Paper money is cut into small fragments, then sent to molds, where they are turned into briquettes under high pressure. Similarly, they destroy worn-out banknotes that are no longer suitable for use. During recycling, paper money is subject to such a strong change that it cannot be restored. The finished briquettes are taken to the solid waste landfill, where the final stage of disposal takes place. You can not burn such briquettes, because the paint contains harmful substances that, when released into the atmosphere, negatively affect the environment.
