To mark the centenary of the birth of the Armenian composer, a coin of 1000 drams was issued

This year, a 1,000 dram coin was issued in Armenia in honor of composer Arno Babajanyan. The coin is made of 925 sterling silver, diameter - 40 mm, a total of 500 copies were issued. On the obverse, the author of the project Vardan Vardanyan depicted a dancing couple, above the figures are images of a rose and a key. On the reverse is a portrait of the composer, the years of his life (1921-1983), next to the keys, a note and a pen.

Arno Babajanyan studied at the Yerevan Conservatory, then moved to Moscow, and graduated from the Moscow Conservatory in 1948. He was a member of a group of composers called "The Armenian Mighty Bunch". He collaborated with Yevgeny Yevtushenko and Robert Rozhdestvensky, and contributed to the development of instrumental jazz. He often performed himself, performing his own works on the piano.
