The Uffizi Gallery, located in Florence, sold a digital print of Michelangelo's painting "Tondo Doni" for 170 thousand dollars. To restore the budget during the crisis period, the museum's management decided to experiment: now some of the most valuable works of art are converted into unique NFT tokens. Details of the transaction were not disclosed. It is only known that the digital painting was purchased by a resident of Rome, who decided to please her husband, a collector.

Part of the proceeds will be transferred to the Italian company Cinello, which owns a patent for the technology of turning paintings into electronic facsimiles. These paintings are called Digital Art Work, each of them is unique and protected from theft. The works converted to NFT for the Uffizi Gallery are accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, which contains the signature of the director of the institution, Eike Schmidt.

"Tondo Doni", or "Madonna Doni" – the only extant work of Michelangelo Buonarroti, related to easel painting. This image is a round shape with a diameter of 120 cm, in the center of which is the Holy Family: Mary with her husband Joseph and her son Jesus Christ. The painting was commissioned by the Florentine merchant Agnolo Doni. It got to the museum in the XVII century.
