2300 year old sword and its brilliant blade

Two years ago, a valuable find was discovered by Chinese archaeologists. She was a 2300-year-old sword in a sheath, the blade of which even shone after extraction from them.

This classic Chinese short sword (jian) is miniature in size. He even kept some of the original sharpening. Found him in an ancient tomb in the city of Xinyang.

According to archaeologists, the sword is dated to the period of the Fighting kingdoms, which lasted from 475 BC to 221 AD. During this period, in the ancient Chinese states, iron was fully mastered.

During this period there was a serious modernization of both weapons and military science. Bronze weapons and armor were gradually replaced by iron.

As the English sinologist Joseph Nidem points out, in ancient China most of the metal products were not forged, but cast. After that, the swords were manually processed by the blacksmiths, which gave them increased strength.

The unusual finding is in the level of preservation of the artifact. And, despite the fact that many experts insisted that it was a fake, Chinese archaeologists confirmed the authenticity of the sword.
