Archaeologists have found gold leaf in the flooded tomb of the pharaoh in northern Sudan

For the first time in 100 archaeologists managed to plunge into the long-flooded tomb of the pharaoh in northern Sudan. This was done by underwater archaeologist Pierce Paul Chrisman with his group in early July 2019.

During this time, the water level has become much higher than it was 100 years ago. This greatly complicated the access of scientists to the tomb. Scientists had to overcome the 65th step of the stairs to get to the entrance to the tomb. At first they managed to get through only 40 of them. The presence of groundwater required the use of special equipment.

To somehow ease their way, underwater archaeologists used a hose that delivers oxygen from the surface. This was due to the fact that the usual scuba gear was impossible to use: they are too heavy and large. But it was worth it.

Scientists have discovered gold leaf and ceramic figurines. Presumably, these donations were intended for the underage Pharaoh Nasten, who ruled the kingdom of Kush from 335 to 315 BC. e. The inaccessibility of the tomb allowed to save gold.

According to scientists, the premises are three beautiful cameras with arched ceilings, the size of a small bus. First, one camera was visited, and then another, which is completely black, if you do not turn on the flash.
