The 17th-century golden coat of arms is not the first valuable find of Michelle Waal. Previously, she found a rare coin of Richard III.

Michelle Waal began to get involved in instrument search a few years ago. In November 2018, a 53-year-old elementary school teacher and her husband visited Scotland. The woman decided to check the shore of Lake Loch Lomond with a metal detector. After several doorknobs, parts from a tractor and many metal objects, she came across a gold ring with a coat of arms.

She offered the find to the National Museum of Scotland, but after months of reflection, the organization refused. Then Baal showed her to a familiar antique dealer. He established that the ring was made between 1640 and 1680 and, judging by the emblem, belonged to a noble family from the county of Suffolk. According to him, at an auction in September for him will be able to gain about 10,000 pounds.

Baal became interested in finding treasures with a metal detector when she discovered that this activity was helping her fight panic attacks. In December 2017, the rare coin that she found was auctioned for 40.8 thousand pounds.
