The Egyptian Ministry of antiquities announced the discovery of 83 graves during excavations in Koam al-Khiljan. All of them date back to the first half of the IV Millennium BC and belong to the Buto civilization. The graves are made in the shape of an oval. Their peculiarity is that the remains found in them are not buried in a straight position, but in a bent position.

In addition, two clay coffins and many household items were found, mainly bowls and jugs, as well as several ornaments. Among the handmade items were oyster shells. According to archaeologists, such ancient clay coffins were found in this region for the first time. In addition to the finds, it is also worth mentioning the remains of brick buildings and furnaces for making clay products.
