In Shanxi province in China, archaeologists have unearthed a copper smelting site. The area of the study area is 700 thousand square meters, while 100 thousand square meters is occupied by the territory where metal processing was carried out. In recent years, scientists have found fragments of copper objects nearby several times.

According to experts from the National Museum of China, some furnaces belong to The Xia dynasty, while others belong to the early Shang dynasty. Under one of the furnaces, archaeologists came across a human skeleton. Scientists suggest that the ancient people used coal during the smelting of copper, and in the craft industry there was a tradition of sacrifice.
