On the island of Malta, in the city of Qrendi (Qrendi), the remains of an old chapel, which dates back to the late Middle Ages, have been discovered. Fragments of the building were found under the floor of the church of Madonna tal-Hniena (Madonna tal-Hniena), the excavations were organized by the Department of Cultural Heritage and the Department of Restoration. The discovery of the older layer became possible after the workers dismantled the floor tiles.

Archaeologists were able to gain access to the building materials used to build the walls of the chapel. The entire structure is preserved in the enclosed space of the church, the building was probably erected before the 1500s. In the coming months, the excavation site will be studied in more detail to determine the exact date of the construction of the chapel. There are several ancient places of worship in Krendi, including the Baroque church, designed by the outstanding Maltese architect Lorenzo Gafa and completed in 1720. Perhaps each of them holds such unusual secrets.
