August 15, 1534 Ignatius Loyola with six of his like-minded people founded in Paris the Order of the Jesuits, whose main task was the conversion of heterodoxes to Christianity.

1795 - France introduced a new currency - the franc.

1649 - the army of Bogdan Khmelnitsky won a two-day battle against the crown troops under the command of Polish King Jan II Casimir. However, the Zboriv battle did not bring success to Khmelnitsky, who was compelled on August 18 to sign the Zborovsky Treaty with the king of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.

1810 - in honor of Napoleon's victories in Paris, the Vendome Column was built, crowned by Bonaparte in the form of an ancient Roman emperor.

2002 - the American airline "National Airlines" announced its decision to transport all passengers on September 11 for a symbolic fee of 1 US dollar.
