On August 20, 1627, an epic poem was published in the white poems "Paradise Lost" by the English poet John Milton. Now considered one of the greatest literary works written in English.

1916 - German submarine "U-35" completed its record 25-day voyage across the Mediterranean Sea, during which 54 enemy ships were sunk.

1925 - The Kanev Museum-Reserve "Tomb of Taras Shevchenko" was founded by the decree of the Council of People's Commissars of the Ukrainian SSR on the Blackstone mountain in Kanev. Now - Shevchenko National Reserve.

2002 - General Motors Corporation announced the recall of seven hundred thousand cars. The pick-ups and minivans Chevrolet and GM-Si, produced in 2000, revealed a problem in the airbags.

2008 - Madrid crashed a passenger plane McDonnell Douglas MD-82. Of the 170 people on board, 154 people died.
