In 1900, Paris hosted the world exhibition (Exposition Universelle), which was visited by more than 50 million people. It was the first time that voice-over films were shown, Rudolf Diesel showed a diesel engine that ran on rapeseed oil, and the Serbian mathematician Mihailo Petrovic received a gold medal for the developed hydraulic integrator.
In the same year, there was a moving sidewalk where everyone could ride. The track design included three levels. The first was completely stationary, the second and third were moving at different speeds. The length of the moving part exceeded three kilometers. It was possible to hold on to special racks with knobs at the top. After the end of the exhibition, the track was dismantled and this idea was not returned to on such a scale.
