What is a "telefonkartia"?

The 20th century brought a lot of new inventions that were thoroughly part of our life and became its integral part. These may include telephone or plastic cards.

The very first phone card was created in Italy more than 40 years ago, in 1976, and was used to pay for payphone in one of the districts of Rome.

After that, the phone cards began their march around the world in France, Belgium, Germany, Great Britain, Holland, and then moved from Europe to Asia, America, Australia and Africa.

Gradually, the diversity of images printed by various telephone companies gave birth to people who created a new hobby - plastic card collecting.

By the way, oddly enough, philatelists became the first collectors of phone cards. A new type of collectibles called "telefonkartia".

Gradually, collectors are even divided into certain areas, such as those who collect phone cards with certain images or themes.
