Layout of Manhattan from used motherboards

This idea is very unusual. The artist from Zimbabwe, Zaid Menk, depicted the mathematically precisely calibrated center of Manhattan on a scale of 0.0635: 100. He made a detailed design measuring 165 x 80 cm. Prior to that, Zaid spent 3 months on Google search engine, in repeated calculations, sawing and gluing.

He needed 263 hot glue sticks, 11 processors, 27 motherboards, 10 motherboards with a display, 15 batteries, 2 timers, 4 watch movements, 3 hard drives, 3 video cards, 4 sound cards, 7 power supplies, 13 readers. floppy disks, a lot of math,
even more patience.

He fed all this with an unprecedented number of requests in Wikipedia and various trifles. For example, the Empire State Building is illuminated with 4 micro LEDs.

“This project was a part of my school term paper on creativity,” says Zaid. - The theme was “Handmade”. I explored how junk can be used to create an art object.”

The creative process of the artist usually consists of browsing the site, saving pictures and developing interesting ideas. Thanks to Google maps, Wikipedia and other sites, he learns the height of buildings. After collecting the data and calculating the scale, Zayed uses a hacksaw to cut everything into pieces, and hot glue to put them all together.
