The time of the CDs is almost over. In place of the "blanks" came flash drives, drives, huge amounts of hard disk memory and storing information on the "cloud".

A huge number of information discs await oblivion, a landfill and, at best, recycling. Or they can expect a second life in the form of a sculpture from a CD, such as these stunning figures of animals and birds.

Western Australian artist Sean E Avery creates animal sculptures using CDs and DVDs. First, Sean makes the basis for a future wire figurine, and then breaks the discs and sticks the pieces onto the frame. One such sculpture takes at least a month.

We also use old computer chips and hardware, details of tape recorders, televisions, music players and household appliances. In other words, the artist uses only secondary raw materials for his handmade masterpieces.

All parts are glued together with hot melt glue. If the sculpture is supposed to be large, the designer uses a foam base. The sizes of the sculptures are different, from 20 cm to 1 m in height. Many of them can be made by hand.
