Traditional ties have long been considered as an everyday item of clothing. However, few people know about the existence of such a type of tie as Bolo, which consists of two woven straps, topped with metal tips. Such a tie was made of leather, and was fastened with an original buckle-slide in the neck. The history of this fashion accessory began in the days of the Wild West. She always attracted the special attention of collectors, as well as lovers of antiquity.

Many researchers believe that Bolo was born thanks to New Mexico resident Menny Goodman, who owned industrial goods stores. In the thirties, Goodman created a new type of jewelry, he said, similar to the products common to the indigenous people of America, who often wore bandanas, fastened around the neck with special jewelry made of stones and silver. Some members of these ethnic groups wore garments, laces and shells instead of bandanas. These decorations became the basis for creating a Bolo tie.

According to the official version, the first Bolo ties appeared in the 1940s. At that time, an Arizona master named Zedarstaff, who made silver objects, went to the mountains for a horse ride. On his hat was an ornament in the form of a cord, topped with a delightful silver buckle. During the walk there was a strong wind, and Zedarstaff, in order not to lose his decoration, put it on his neck. Friends of the master immediately liked his new tie.

At home, Zedarstaff approached the friends with compliments very creatively: he made a braided cord of leather, secured its ends with silver balls and decorated it with a decorative buckle of turquoise color. The final name of the tie was when Zedarstaff, who was visiting with his friends, for the first time saw a boleadora weapon, common in this area. The similarity of the lasso with the invention of Zedarstaff prompted the master to assign the name Bolo to a new piece of clothing.

In May 1954, Zedarstaff sent the documents to obtain a patent for his product. Five years later, the master became the official creator of the Bolo tie. Over time, the fashion for such garments has spread in England, where they began to exist under the name "lace". In the fifties, this accessory became the main attribute of the clothes of the famous youth movement Teddy Boys. As a rule, representatives of the movement were teenage hooligans who were part of the London youth gangs.

At the same time, America has embraced the fashion for Westerns. New tie Bolo began to appear frequently in films and television shows. The creator of this accessory has become known throughout the country, and his tie has glorified not only the governor of Arizona, but also the hometown of Zedarstaff.
