In response to readers' requests, in a series of articles we published
mini-catalog of large denomination of Polish coins of the 17-18th century
Today we would like to present two half thaler coins minted during the reign of Stanislav August Poniatowski in 1788. The best of the two coins was sold for 42,000 hryvnia. Stanislaw August Poniatowski - the last king of independent Poland and the Grand Duke of Lithuania in 1764-1795. The king is famous for his undertakings.

Stanislav August stimulates the creation of a national industry, organizes a company of manufactories producing woolen fabrics (1767), builds an armory and other factories (in particular, foundry and porcelain). The Warsaw Mint begins to operate on a permanent basis. The mining industry is developing. The merit of Stanislav August is in the formation of the national art industry.
