In 2000, the Bank of England issued a 10-pound banknote, timed to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin. It depicted the author of the theory of evolution, the ship "Beagle" and the hummingbird. The website of the Bank of England reported that the image of the bird "is based on a species typical of the Galapagos Islands." But according to Professor of Genetics University College London Steve Jones, "the Galapagos Islands there are no hummingbirds".

In 2005, in Belorussia, a banknote with a nominal value of 100,000 rubles was put into circulation. But only after 7 years, one of the radio listeners reported that the Radziwill Castle, instead of the famous family eagles, depicted Orthodox crosses, and there were no Orthodox crosses among the Radziwills. The image on the banknote is a drawing of Napoleon the Horde, and on it eagles are depicted.

In 2013, a memorable banknote with a face value of 1,000 KZT, dedicated to the monument of the Turkic script "Kүltegin", was issued in Kazakhstan. The denomination is made in yellow-brown tones. On the front side there is a fragment of the sculpture of Kul-Tegin, a monument "Kazakh Eli" and flying pigeons. A year later, Turkologist, doctor of historical sciences Talgat Zhumaganbetov said that the stone head depicted on the banknote does not belong to the military figure of the Second Turkic Kaganate Kul-tegin. He said that "this subject is studied in Japan, the US, Europe. We will be laughed at, because this is our history".
